A day in the life of a dog
Morning
What's that noise? There's lots of activity taking place… oh, it must be the staff getting ready to take me out for my walk – I can't wait!
Outside we go! And it's a lovely day today, too. Thinking about it, yesterday it chucked it down and they still took me out. They don't seem to mind what the weather's like – suits me! To be honest, I think they enjoy coming out as much as I do. Ooh, was that a squirrel? Come on!
Back from my walk and into my apartment, Amy, one of my carers, checks over my body to make sure I'm fit and healthy. She gives my ears a bit of a clean and my coat a good brush.
I notice Amy writing on a sheet attached to my apartment door – I think any problems are noted down so that all the other carers know my health history. It's nice to be looked after!
Great – my apartment's been tidied. Brand spanking clean, with fresh water and my all-important breakfast laid out. I didn't even order room service!
After breakfast I fancy a bit of a snooze – who doesn't when they're on holiday? – so it's a good opportunity to get my head down for a bit…
Late Morning
Time to see my pals in Doggy Day Camp – wooo-hoooo! I love this part. My parents have only booked me in for a couple of days during my two-week stay because it does cost a bit extra, but it's well worth it. I get to play and have a socialise with my friends for a whole hour. There's loads of room to run wild but it's all supervised to keep everyone in check!
Phew, after that all that exercise I'm ready to go back to my apartment for a much needed rest!
Lunch
After calming down, it's time for a bit of one-to-one time with my carer. So it's loads of cuddles and attention that makes me feel warm and cared for.
My water gets changed again so it's nice and fresh, and now it's time for a dog-nap.
Afternoon
After my kip, Amy pops back into my apartment to give it a quick spring clean and make sure I'm feeling okay. It's nice to have regular contact with my carer. Between you and me, I think she's taken a shine to me.
Late afternoon
Right, time for my final activity of the day – a fun-run in the paddock. This is a huge grassy area – secure, of course – but it's so big it must be the size of a football pitch. Speaking of which, that ball… over here!
My carer and I run about together, playing with toys and burning off all my excess energy. After which I'm shattered and ready for bed.
When I return to my apartment, it's been spring-cleaned and my evening meal is ready and waiting.
Evening
As I get settled down, one of my carers pops in to make sure I'm happy, and then that's it for the day.
So, looking back, today's been great. I wonder what activities I've got lined up for tomorrow…
